Our philosophy and methods

We practice stewardship of the land and compassionate husbandry. We strive to provide our hogs with an environment that matches their natural behavior, which includes rooting, wallowing, and ranging freely. Our hogs are never confined indoors; instead they live in large grassy paddocks. Run-in sheds provide shelter from the elements. In summer, the hogs cool off in large bogs that fill with rain water. We practice intensive rotational grazing to insure the hogs have access to grass year round. Our hogs enjoy a diet of locally-milled feed, free of antibiotics and growth hormones, organic acorns from the many oak trees on our farm, and a wide variety of fruits and vegetables sourced through local food waste streams. It is our ongoing effort to help address and prevent food waste, with our eyes on helping to solve food insecurity locally and across the nation. Ours is a land of abundance; no one should go hungry.

As compassionate farmers, we stand in opposition to confined animal feeding operations (CAFO’s) and actively support fellow local farmers and small businesses. Humanely raised pork is delicious!
